Last night, Antetokounmpo scored a career-high 55 points, along with 10 rebounds and seven assists. Less than 24 hours later, he recorded a triple-double of 30 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists for the Bucks without Jrue Holiday, George Hill, Joe Ingles and Khris Middleton. Multiple tough attempts, as the Bucks played a lot of shorthanded games without regulars. This time around will be no exception, as he wants the Bucks’ shorthanded roster to emerge victorious. — Nem
Tired of his excellence?
Antetokounmpo told reporters after Tuesday’s game that while he understands why a 55-point game would be exciting, he wants to maintain enough consistency that people are weary of his good play. Hitting a 30/20/10 triple-double the next night is a good way to make people think this type of production is normal.
Antetokounmpo had 12 turnovers against the Raptors’ relentless defense, and the Bucks struggled offensively for most of the game, but he managed to get the Bucks to the finish line, including his throw to Grayson Allen from the rim The ridiculous pass with just over 10 seconds left in overtime. It’s an incredible vision to find an open player on the court in that situation. — Nem
How weird is this game?
Antetokounmpo had 12 turnovers while no player had more than nine field goal attempts. Stranger? That player with nine points was Scottie Barnes, who didn’t score until the fourth quarter. Antetokounmpo has dictated the terms of engagement in nearly every game he’s played, but the Raptors have defended him well enough that they can win even on nights when the field goal is C-. Instead, they’ve been adjusting for the lowest field goal percentage in franchise history (27 percent in November 2000) until regulation ends. The Raptors can turn a game into a rock-and-roll fight, and they did just that in this game. Still, Antetokounmpo has always been able to pull off the heaviest of jobs. – South Korea
what are they talking about
Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer on Antetokounmpo’s 10th assist: “The last pass to Grayson (Allen) was just — the fact that he got into the paint, the fact that he got to the rim, and then it felt like Like a dart to Grayson. Right in the pocket of his shot. Just a big play. Big pass. Grayson was able to knock it down.”
