Even in the empty locker room, Vincent Trocheck was hard to hear. He spoke quickly and quietly. He won’t linger, like his neighbor and teammate Artemi Panarin in the locker room at the MSG training center. Maybe it’s because he’s only been a Ranger for a few months and hasn’t played his first real game for them yet, but Trocheck on ice is an under-the-radar, no-fuss type.
On the ice, Rangers fans got their first real look at what Trocheck hopes to bring on Saturday night. Trocheck wasn’t one to be shy and withdrawn in the final game of the preseason. He thumped Islanders linebacker Alex Romanov, who was forcibly returned late in the third quarter; Romanov stretched his forearm to Troche with his left foot Gram’s sternum, drew a juvenile charge and a $5,000 fine.
